The Phoenix Suns have made a step in the right direction. They have decided to keep Alvin Gentry as their Head Coach. It will take some time for the franchise to fully cleanse itself of the that Terry Porter "coaching taint," and it might have to make some player shuffling here and there over the off-season; but all is not lost for this Arizona basketball franchise.
From a fantasy perspective, this provides a good future outlook for Phoenix Suns players. Most of them recovered (statistically speaking) when Gentry took over the helm of the Suns. Some questions still remain that have to be answered, before drafting begins for next season. Will Gentry be able to maximize the talents and skills of the players who will be remaining under his command after the dust has settled? How much does Steve Nash and Amare enjoy playing for this coach? Will the Suns decision to keep Gentry, help keep their core of stars intact? We will have to wait and see.
It doesn't seem too far fetched to think that the Suns may consider shaking things up a little bit. They were burned out of playoff contention, and I doubt that they can attribute Amare Stoudemire's absence as the sole cause of that downslide. Whatever decisions they do make, having Gentry and his focus on a tight, fast-paced offensive game will be good for the Suns players - at least as far as fantasy basketball is concerned.
