So you think you're good at playing fantasy basketball. You think you're a hotshot manager. You claim to know your NBA players, their stats, and the best days to play them. Well Papersports.com will give you a chance to put your money where your mouth is. For real. Yup, you can win money ($) playing fantasy basketball*.
Fine, you won't be able to pay off your student loans, get your wife the Gucci bag she's been nagging you to buy her or even send the kids you're willing to acknowledge that are yours to that swanky "Summer Camp for the Rich & Famous." But if you are anywhere near as good at playing fantasy basketball as you brag to your buddies over beer and pretzels, then you can at least make some decent moolah (do people still even use this word?). Moolah, to buy you that new keyboard to replace the one you smashed when you found out that your 1st and 2nd round picks in your Yahoo league, Elton Brand and Al Jefferson, are BOTH out for the season.
It's unique and innovative twist to the fantasy basketball we're all accustomed to. Teams are drafted and played on a day-by-day basis. Yup, tournaments you sign up for are good that one day. Leagues are small as you only have access to players on teams that have games for the day.
Sign up and hook yourself up with an account and upload your most intimidating avatar pic.
Once you've got your account set up, fill up your card. Your card is basically your pre-ranking of all the players you want to draft for a given day in the NBA season. You will need this. Since Papersports is still relatively new, the queue for tournament sign ups isn't very long just yet. It may take some time for you to get an opponent(s) to fill up the tournament. So you may want to load up your card and do something else. This will change once the site and the game builds up some steam and gains a bigger following.
It might be easier for you if you set up a custom league and invite a friend to play against.
Your roster consists of 4 guard spots, 4 forward spots, and 2 center spots.
Players earn your team points that are computed as follows:
Points = 0.5 points
Field Goal Attempted = -0.45 points
Field Goal Made = 1 point
Free Throw Attempted = -0.75 points
Free Throw Made = 1 point
Three Point Shot = 3 points
Rebound = 1.5 points
Assist = 2.0 points
Steal = 3.0 points
Turnover = -2.0 points
Blocked Shot = 3 points
* The team with the most points accumulated wins!
Next pick a tournament. Entry fees vary between $5 and $10. You can join 4-man leagues or a "man vs. man" league, where you have only one opponent.
A $5 entry fee in a man vs man tournament will net the winner $9. A $5 dollar entry into a 4-man league can win the winner $12.50 and the second placer a rebate of $5.
Do the math, if you're good enough to win say $18 a day, playing 2 man vs man tournaments daily, that's $540 a month!
Not bad for a month's "work" at the fantasy basketball office. I know it might seem tempting, but please don't quit your day job just yet.
I'd like to congratulate Rod Yancy and the rest of the staff at Papersports for coming up with a good fantasy basketball site. Good job, guys!
Rod tells me that the development team is constantly working to improve the software and the interface of the Live Draft. So expect bigger and better things from them in the future.
Check 'em out. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they also host other fantasy sports as well. Ha ha!

I guess this takes it further to a larger proportion.
